Profile

He holds a BA in Economics (1980) and a MA in Economic Statistics and Econometrics (1982) from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a PhD in Economics (1987) from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has worked as Assistant Professor of Economics (1987-93) and Associate Professor of Economics (1993-95) at the University of Connecticut. From 1993-99 he is at the University of Cyprus as Associate Professor and from 1999-present is a Professor. He served as a Chairman at the Department of Economics from 1997-2002 and from 2006-present, member of the University Senate from 1997-2002 and from 2007-present. He is a Co-Editor of the Ekonomia and Member of the Editorial Council of the Review of Development Economics. He is a Research Associate of the Center of Economic Studies & Ifo Institute for Economic Research (CESifo), Germany. He is a member of the Council of Cyprus State Scholarship Foundation.


Research Interests

International Trade; Theory and Policy, Economics of Integration, International Factor Mobility, Migration, Optimal Commercial Policies, Trade and Factor Tax Policies with Public Goods Provision, Indirect Tax Reforms, Economics of Foreign Aid, Trade and Environment and Cyprus-European Community Economic Relations.
