Housing Office
The Housing Office of the Service of Academic Affairs and Student Welfare manages the Student Halls of the University, as well as a number of student-apartments in the private sector.
Student Halls
The Student Halls are located on the new campus, in the Athalassa area. There are at present 208 single study / bedrooms with common kitchen and / or bathroom facilities. Within the Student Halls complex there are also a Social Activity Centre, Post-Office, Laundry Room and Residents´ Information Centre.
Student Apartments
Student apartments are located within walking distance of the old University campus (Kallipoleos avenue). Each apartment consists of 2 or 3 single study / bedrooms and common kitchen, living room and bathroom areas. Currently, the University rents 27 apartments with a total of 63 single study bedrooms.
Room Application and Evaluation Procedures
To apply for a room, students must complete the housing application form, which is available at the Housing Office.
There are two different types of room application / evaluation procedures: one for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students; one for Erasmus and other exchange / international students.
Full-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students
Full time students must submit their room application forms within the deadlines set by the Housing Office for each academic year. These application forms are evaluated on the basis of three criteria: income, socioeconomic problems and distance of residence from the town centre of Nicosia.
Erasmus and other Exchange / International Students
Erasmus and other exchange / international students must submit their room application forms by June 15 for the Fall Semester and by November 15 for the Spring Semester.
These forms are evaluated on a first come first serve basis. The majority of students are offered accommodation in the Student Apartments. For more information on accommodation for Erasmus and other international students, consult the brochure

1. Residential Programs and Activities
The Housing Office of the University works hard to offer students a safe, healthy and pleasant living environment. The Housing Office constantly reviews and improves its management procedures and organizes a number of residential programs and activities that promote community spirit.
1.1. Student Resident Assistants A number of students are selected each year as Resident Assistants (RAs). RAs have a number of administrative responsibilities, including working in the Residents` Information Centre, reporting any accommodation problems and trying to solve them towards with the help of the staff of the Housing Office.
1.2. Activity Program Each academic semester, the team of RAs together with the Housing Office staff prepare an Activity Program, especially designed for the residents of the Student Halls and the Student Apartments, which includes trips, parties, movie nights, lectures, etc.
2. Accommodation Problems
2.1. Residents´ Information Centre (RIC)
The RIC, operated by the Housing Office, is located on the premises of the Student Halls. All residents may report any problems with their accommodation to the RIC staff. The RIC will resolve the problem or refer it to the appropriate officer.
2.2. Accommodation Rules
All accommodation problems are solved within the framework of Accommodation Rules, set by the Housing Office and approved by the Senate. Where necessary, disciplinary measures are taken.
3. Holiday Accommodation
During the summer months Student Halls are allocated to those Cypriot and International students, academics and visitors who are involved in summer lectures, seminars and other activities organized by the University of Cyprus (and other local organizations).
